Though once we received our food we never saw our server again until it was time for the bill. Also drinks and food are handled by different servers. The drinks server also checked on us only when we were close to completing our meal. My friend ordered a water at that time which never came out. He asked again with another server which also never was served.

Always have wanted to here. Loved this bar! Went to Wakefield just for it and because Royal Wood was playing there. It's a classic!!

Fun atmosphere and unique location. This place is well known for their ribs and as they should be. Ribs were very enjoyable.

All in all the ribs were wonderful and black sheep is known for them. Regardless of our experience I recommend you try out the place for yourself. It may have just been an off night, maybe they were short handed. Overall of experience wasn't good and the way the server handled her frustrations will prevent me from returning.

We also had 2 orders of wings which unfortunately tasted like they had freezer burn. We sat on the patio as it was a nice evening outside. They were quite busy inside as there was a live band playing. Thankfully our server warned us the meal would take 40 minutes due to the number is guests inside. It seemed like the food didn't take the full 40 minutes fortunately.

Drink options are a bit limited but honestly, the draw here is the incredible talent that Paul books. So grab some tickets and settle in for a good show... Or several.

When it came time to pay bill my friend left an unacceptably tip which prompted the server to ask what was wrong. He shared her experience which drove the server to become defensive. She insisted that if we brought up our issue with the wings she could have done something for us. Which is fair though she never checked on us after delivering the meal for us to explain that. We tried to have a rational conversation with her about our experience though she seemed too offended and couldn't come to a conclusion.

If you follow Canadian independent music, you (A) already know about this place and (B) have to make the trip up here for a live show.

Classic venue for so many great musicians. A must for lovers of live music. Sell-outs are frequent, so get your tickets as far in advance as possible. Shows start and finish relatively early so you can get back to Ottawa at a reasonable time. Better yet, stay in one of the variety of inns, B&Bs, and Airbnb accomodations nearby.

Get there early if you want a place to park. There is municipal parking up the street by the General Store if you miss your window.
